Rep. Kelly Hastings, N.C. House 110 -R, recently had the honor of being recognized as a 2025 Defender of Public Safety by the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association.


"I am extremely thankful to be recognized as a Defender of Public Safety by the North Carolina Sheriffs' Association," Hasting said. "It is an honor to have leading law enforcement officers in North Carolina trust me in my role as a member of the North Carolina General Assembly."

Hastings was a primary sponsor of NC House 52, Protect Those Who Serve & Protect Act of 2025. The bill enhances penalties on assaults on public safety officers, law enforcement or search and rescue animals, and employees or volunteers at a school, which is currently engrossed, waiting to move forward.


The North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association is a nonprofit organization that has served the sheriffs and citizens of North Carolina since 1922.
