BOILING SPRINGS – You may not know the name Brian DiYorio yet, but give it time.
On Tuesday, Oct. 28, The Town of Boiling Springs held a drop-in meet and greet for their new Chief of Police, Brain DiYorio. The Town Hall lobby was filled with people from the area, with a few guests from the City of Shelby also present, to welcome Chief DiYorio to town.
Boiling Springs Town Manger Zach Parker expressed his optimism for the future of Boiling Springs Public Safety, stating, “We are very excited to have Chief DiYorio and the new team he has put together, and how they’re going to bring the police to department forward to make sure they do a great job serving the Boiling Springs area and the surrounding community.”

N.C. House Rep. Paul Scott, District 111, was in attendance, along with Shelby Police Chief Brad Fraser and Captain. Scott Brown.
“Not only is Boiling Springs excited about our new Chief, but I’m sure he’s excited to be here,” added N.C. House Rep. Scott. “It’s a great town, with great people; and we’re looking forward to him having a successful career in Boiling Springs.”
“DiYorio seems like a great guy,” Fraser noted. “I didn’t know him before he got here, but I’ve had the chance to meet him. I’m excited for him and for the Town of Boiling Springs. I expect him to do a lot of great things for the Boiling Springs community.”

Long-time Boiling Springs Police Officer Jonathan Gantt was promoted to lieutenant. Gantt began working full-time for The Boiling Springs Police Department in October 2003. Having previously worked as a paramedic in Boiling Springs, he then worked as a patrol officer and sergeant and detective for the town before being officially promoted to lieutenant Tuesday evening.
During the Boiling Springs town government meeting Tuesday night, DiYorio was pinned in by his wife Sarah. He was sworn in by Mayor Daniel Thomas, along with Lieutenant Gantt, Sergeant Williamson and Detective Paz, with their families by their side.

Chief DiYorio took a moment from all the handshaking and conversations to speak to The Shelby Independent. “I’m happy to be here in Boiling Springs; it’s a great community,” DiYorio said. “I’ve come here from Gastonia and since I’ve arrived people here have been very welcoming. It’s so nice to be here, to meet the residents and it’s a fantastic group of officers that work here.”
DiYario continued, “Jonathan Gantt has been here a long time and built a strong relationship with the community, so I’m looking forward to getting out there and making my own connections with the residents of Boiling Springs because it takes an entire community for us to do our job.”
