Law enforcement is actively looking for a second suspect in an attempted armed robbery and robber Tuesday night.
On Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, at approximately 10:10 p.m., an attempted armed robbery occurred at the Dollar General located at 4624 Ellenboro Road, but the two suspects were unable to gain entry into the store due to its closing at 10:00 p.m. The subjects were brandishing weapons that were seen by the store employees on scene.
At 10:28 p.m., while deputies were on scene at the Dollar General, another call came out at 3971 W. Dixon Blvd at the One Stop Sunset Food Store in reference to an armed robbery.
The two male subjects entered the store and presented firearms and took all the cash inside the register and left in a white sport utility style vehicle.
After gaining more vehicle information, Sheriff Deputies, along with the Shelby Police Department, were able to locate and stop the vehicle on South Post Road, where they arrested Kashon Sentell Johnson (11-10-1997).
Mr. Johnson was operating the vehicle in question, and both matched the description provided. Johnson has prior charges for armed robbery (2017), kidnapping (2017), and weapon-related offenses (2021-2022).
The second suspect is still being sought by the Sheriff’s Office. Additional information verified Mr. Johnson’s involvement, and he has been charged with the following:
Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, NCGS 14-87.
Simple Assault, NCGS 14-33 (A).
This is a developing story.
