Cleveland County Schools recently announced the launch of NCSIS (North Carolina Student Information system) powered by Infinite Campus. Also known as the parent portal; it went into effect state-wide this month.
Having made the change over a gradual timeframe from PowerSchool to NCSIS Infinite Campus, the roll out took place over the course of more than a year, as Communications and Digital media officer for Cleveland County Schools Chad Terry explained.
“It is so much more than just a basic parent portal. It’s a way parents can go in to register general information and fill out forms, just things we would need to know for certain situations.”
He continued, “It’s also a way grades are recorded for parents to monitor and to store student and parent information and any bill balances that might be due.”
Terry said parents create an account and then start completing beginning of the year enrollment forms that the school requires parents to fill out before school begins on Aug. 13.

The switchover has been a monumental undertaking by the school system and the Student Information Coordinator, Student Information Specialist and all of the school data managers.
“I can only say amazing things about the volume and quality of work our people have put into this project. I have no doubt we will be in the best shape we can be from the amount of time put into this,” added Terry.
He also clarified the change had nothing to do with the widespread hack of PowerSchool across North Carolina public schools in December of last year.
“This process has been going on for some time,” Terry said. “This was in the works long before that ever happened.”
