BOILING SPRINGS — A man who was reported missing early Friday afternoon was located a little over an hour after a search was resumed Saturday morning.

The tragic incident occurred at the Broad River Greenway park, just south of Boiling Springs, N.C., a popular location on the Broad River where swimmers and families congregate in the summer.

There have been six drownings officially tied to swimming recreation at the Broad River Greenway, in Cleveland County.

The unidentified male’s body was located after an extensive search that involved local fire and rescue teams, a helicopter search and help by teams called in from out of town for the search.

The Greenway will reopen on Sunday.

In a statement released by the Broad River Greenway on social media, it said, “Thank you for the sympathy and support this weekend. Our employees and the first responders are very appreciative! The Greenway will reopen Sunday for regular hours. As always use appropriate safety measures when accessing the water.”
