EDUCATION – Cleveland Community College’s Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Bruce Mack, was selected to participate in the 2026 Aspiring Presidents Institute, held September 30 – October 2.

“It is truly an honor to be selected to participate in the Aspiring Presidents Institute,” said Mack. “I recognize that this opportunity represents a significant investment in current and future leaders across North Carolina’s Community College System, and I am both humbled and grateful to be included among such a distinguished group of colleagues.”

Candidates are community college senior executives and are nominated by their current presidents. “Dr. Mack has consistently demonstrated the vision, leadership, and commitment to student success that define exceptional community college leaders,” said CCC President Dr. Jason Hurst. “I nominated him for the Aspiring Presidents Institute because I believe he has tremendous potential to serve in even greater leadership roles in the future.”

Developed by the Belk Center, in partnership with the North Carolina Association of Community College Presidents, the Aspiring Presidents Institute provides three days of intensive professional learning for 10 candidates interested in pursuing a community college presidency. Participants engage in president-led panels and receive one-on-one mentoring. Session topics include finance, human capital strategy, and leading with strategic vision.

“This institute provides a valuable opportunity to learn from experienced community college presidents, engage with talented peers from across the state, and further develop the leadership skills needed to serve our colleges effectively in the future,” said Mack. “I am grateful for the support of Cleveland Community College and to Dr. Hurst, and I look forward to learning, growing, and building relationships that will help me become a more effective leader in service to students, employees, and the communities we serve.”
