Linda Ann White Edwards, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 15, 2026, in her hometown of Shelby, North Carolina, where she was born on May 8, 1944. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Married for an enduring 62 years to her cherished husband, John Thomas Edwards Jr., Linda's love story was one that inspired many. Together, they built a foundation of love that would support their family for generations to come. Their bond will remain a beacon of strength and unity for all those who knew them.
Linda was a devoted member of Elliott Memorial Baptist Church in Lawndale, NC. Her faith was evident in her compassionate actions, particularly through her dedication to volunteering in cleaning the church. Linda's commitment to her community and church showcased her gentle spirit and nurturing heart, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
She cherished every moment spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride. From engaging conversations to sharing laughter, Linda's time with them was filled with warmth and cherished memories. As a mother, she provided love and guidance to her children—Tammy Edwards Whisnant of Forest City, NC; Danny Edwards and his wife Deborah of Shelby, NC; and Denise Edwards Lail and her husband Gary of Kings Mountain, NC. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit and teachings, ensuring that her legacy of love continues to thrive.
Linda is also survived by her treasured grandchildren: Brandon Lee Edwards of Hawaii; Betsy Beason of Shelby, NC; Brittany Spivey and her husband Charles of Raleigh, NC; Devin Lail of Kings Mountain, NC; Michael Lail and his wife Heather of Shelby, NC; and Shay Bumgarner of Canton, NC. Her great-grandchildren, Aedan Lail, Ava Lail, K.J. Laye, Kaylee Beason, and Karlee Beason, were the light of her life, each bringing unique smiles and joy to her heart.
Among those who will miss her dearly are her departed family members, including her father Woodrow F. White, her mother Thelma Cook White, her brother Walter White, her brother Delbert White, and her sister Estell Walker. They welcomed her with open arms as she is reunited with them beyond this earthly realm.
Linda’s interests reflected her kindhearted nature. She enjoyed volunteering, often seen helping keep the church she loved clean and inviting. As a former employee of Wal-Mart, she found joy not only in shopping but also in spending quality time with her co-workers, forging friendships that filled her heart. In addition, she adored her cats, which were not merely pets to her but companions that enhanced her home with love and joy.
The visitation will be held from 12:00pm - 1:00pm Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Cleveland Funeral Services in Shelby. A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm on February 18, 2026, at Cleveland Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Ron Kidd.
