Cleveland County Schools was recently ranked number 66 on Forbes Magazine’s Best Employers in North Carolina.

In a statement release by CCS on Monday, it stated, “This is their highest ranking of any school system in the state, and only one other district made the Top 100 (Cumberland County at number 80).”

Communications and Digital Media Officer for Cleveland County Schools, Chad Terry, told The Shelby Independent this was a group effort, which couldn’t have been possible without community support.

“This recognition is not just about us; it belongs to our entire community. Our success is rooted in the strong partnerships we share with families, local businesses, and community members who help us build a thriving educational environment. Together, we’ve created a culture that values collaboration, respect, and growth.”

In an exclusive conversation with The Independent, Terry said CCS is honored to be recognized by Forbes as one of America’s Best-in-State Employers for 2025. He added that the culture of the school system is something to be proud of, as a school system making the rankings.
