Water discoloration possible during maintenance, city says

A discoloration of tap water in Shelby is temporary and normal over the next few days.
On Friday, The City of Shelby announced it will be performing water tank maintenance from July 21 to July25.
In a statement, the city said residents are encouraged to check for possible water discoloration prior to use.

“If water is discolored, it can usually be remedied by running a cold water tap for 4-5 minutes or until the water clears,” the statement said.
The city also suggested postponing laundry until the water is clear, with at least a day after the water finally clears, is recommended.
The city requests any noticeable changes in water pressure needs to be reported to City of Shelby customer service, at 704-484-6866.
