The rumor is true, Chipotle is coming to Shelby

OPINION – I heard rumors about a Chipotle coming to Shelby, so I decided to get to the bottom of it.

After contacting the Chipotle media relations representative, I have confirmed that the rumor is true.

Sometime next year we will be getting a Chipotle! However, the location was not confirmed at this time.

Chipotle is a personal favorite of mine (and I certainly prefer it over another notable chain). I was very excited when I heard rumors that we might be getting one. The nearest Chipotles to Shelby are about 30 minutes away, depending on your location, with one in Gastonia, one in Forest City, and another in Gaffney, South Carolina. (That’s not too bad, but I can’t really justify driving that far for a taco with my current budget.)

I think Chipotle will be a great addition to Shelby’s menu. (Though not necessarily low calorie) Chipotle is a very healthy restaurant! They only use 53 ingredients which you can see listed on their website. They also don’t use of artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. (Do I eat foods that have these things? Absolutely! But since they are so healthy I can justify spending the money on eating out.)

Their food is cooked from fresh and never from frozen or canned. They have a high commitment to food safety and quality. I also love supporting Chipotle because it is a great company committed to it’s values of fresh food and overall goodness.

“We work to create and celebrate integrity in all aspects of our business, including how workers are valued and the way crops are grown, animals are treated, and the environment is impacted.” They state on their website.

Chipotle is also working to make their restaurants more conducive to all of us introverts out there. They are adding drive throughs specifically for online orders. I am especially excited for this so that I don’t have to have to go through any stressful human interaction to get my quesadillas.

I don't know about you, but I am going to make a bolt for Chipotle as soon as the doors open. I hope to see you there.
