CLEVELAND COUNTY — Welcome to 'SI's Week in Review' where we sum up the week's headlines that were covered in The Shelby Independent and on social media.

  • The ALWS wrapped up this week with a grande finale of Veteran parachutists landing on Veterans Field at Keeter Stadium, and a couple of HELOs landing in the outfield to hand off the offical game ball. Congratulations to Lincoln, NE, POST 500 on their victory. The Shelby Independent also published a feature on a look inside of the Host City Welcome dinner that went down last week to kick off the series, and what it takes to make that happen.

  • Several accidents plagued CC this week, with a rollover happening in front of Shelby Highway School as the final game of the ALWS was in progress, jamming up the already heavy traffic. Everyone was reportedly okay from the scene.

  • The speed limit on N Main Street, in Boiling Springs, between Ingles and Ramsgate Drive was officially lowered from 35 mph to 25 to create a safer environment for all travelers on foot, bicycle and vehicle.

  • It was an all-Cleveland County football game weekend Friday and Saturday, as Shelby and Kings Mountain squared off Friday night with a 28-21 win for Shelby against the Mountaineers. Crest battled Burns for a 28-14 victory over the Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon.
