The ALWS wrapped up this week with a grande finale of Veteran parachutists landing on Veterans Field at Keeter Stadium, and a couple of HELOs landing in the outfield to hand off the offical game ball. Congratulations to Lincoln, NE, POST 500 on their victory. The Shelby Independent also published a feature on a look inside of the Host City Welcome dinner that went down last week to kick off the series, and what it takes to make that happen.
Local Rotary clubs gathered for a special joint meeting to honor special guest speaker Mark Markanda.
North Carolina Governor Josh Stein vetoed House Bill 958 also known as the 'election integrity bill' brought forth by Republicans in the General Assembly.
Several accidents plagued CC this week, with a rollover happening in front of Shelby Highway School as the final game of the ALWS was in progress, jamming up the already heavy traffic. Everyone was reportedly okay from the scene.
