This week’s episode of Political Smackdown began with Betsy Wells (D) speaking first, honoring the life and legacy of Dot Roark, who passed away in late December. Roark helped bring C19 to life at Cleveland Community College.
The panel discussed the school board, regarding the events following the meeting, “If anyone needs an intervention, it’s the school board,” said any Dedmon.
Former Shelby Mayor Mike Philbeck (R) said he hopes to see a cohesive school board, but when it becomes dysfunctional it is tough on the county. He later added, after explaining more about the situation, “I hope this is the last incident we see like this and things will be hospitable.”
All four hosts of Political Smackdown agreed, each speaking on the matter.
They moved on from the ruckus in the school board auditorium to the chaos of Minneapolis. Wells disproved of the ICE action, while Wes Westmoreland (R) countered the argument while also understanding some things might be overblown, but stated, “Americans deserve enforcement that deescalates whenever possible.” But added previous U.S. administrations were responsible for the chaos.

Andy Dedmon (D) countered Westmoreland’s point, and Philbeck calls out Minnesota Gov. Waltz’s double-standard wording. Watch the video for full details.
The panel then moved on to the NC US Senate race, with Wells mentioning it will come down between Cooper and Whatley, which the panel discussed.
They hit the lightening round, where they each had news on a specific topic with an opinion worth the watch; with a bit of humor thrown in the middle. Check out the latest episode here: https://youtu.be/7oTJe5IpJio?si=bu0ajOplOLC1_9QQ .
