Crest FFA plows competition at state

Crest High School FFA Veterinary Science CDE Team earned recognition as first place team in the southwest region at the NC FFA State Competition this past Saturday at Lee County High School.


Team members Paisley Hamrick, Luke Hinton, Abby Miller, and Caleb Pless represented Crest High School and Cleveland County with excellence, finishing as the 2nd Place Team in North Carolina, just four points from the top spot, and earning recognition as the 1st Place Team in the Southwest Region.


The competition tested students through a rigorous series of events, including:

• A written knowledge exam


• A mathematical practicum


• Identification of animal breeds, equipment, and microscopic specimens


• Clinical and laboratory skill practicums


Crest's Luke Hinton was named the 2nd High Individual in the State.


"We are so proud of our Crest High FFA Veterinary Science team. FFA is an excellent way for students to get involved, build leadership skills, and showcase their talents," said Communications and Digital Media Officer for CCS, Chad Terry. "This achievement is a strong reflection of the excellence of our students and programs across Cleveland County Schools."
