Boiling Springs – A single car accident on Gaffney Road, just south of Boiling Springs, near Broad River, sent one to the hospital on Saturday night.
According to North Carolina Highway Patrol reports, around 8 p.m., Saturday, a maroon 2001 Toyota Corolla was traveling south on 150 / Gaffney Road, at unsafe speeds, passing several other vehicles when the driver lost control in a curve, traveled off the right to the right, hit a ditch and a tree and came to a rest off the roadway.

Sgt. J. Cody with the North Carolina Highway Patrol, said there was significant damage to the front end of the vehicle, and the driver was taken to Spartanburg for medical treatment. The driver will also face charges of DWI.
“Through our investigation we determined the driver was impaired on alcohol,” said Sgt. Cody. “Since he was at the hospital in South Carolina that’s where he was cited. No other vehicles involved, witness stated he was driving recklessly and passing vehicles in no passing zones. He had significant bodily injuries but nothing life-ending.”
The driver's name was not yet released, officially.
Trooper Hawkins is the lead investigator on this accident, and any further charges have yet to be indicated at time of publication of this news story.
